Words on Paper

Starting this year, the EditPub course introduced hand-composition and letter-press printing: a kind of back to basics for designers and typesetters.

Here's something from that exercise: the first page proof of an incomplete Simon and Garfunkel song composed and printed by some students of the Design Module sometime early during the course. They arranged old metal types on a composing stick, applied leading, used a decorative block (that of a shirt), and printed the matter on a pedal-run letter press.

Creative work at the Kolkata Book Fair 2014

If you are going to the Kolkata Book Fair this year, please visit the Jadavpur University stall (no. 271) to check out on some wonderful artwork (alongside the university's books and journals).

Although this was not part of any formal assignment, some EditPub students volunteered to paint and decorate the Jadavpur University stall for the Kolkata Boi Mela 2014. They worked tirelessly on the stall on the 24th and 25th of January 2014, and the result was an outpouring of creativity, paint explosions, and lots of fun.

Here are some pictures from their visit.
